About Magister University

Overview

Magister University is a coeducational institution with programs leading either to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Ministry or Bachelor of Science Degree. Magister University emphasizes teaching in a Christian context and an atmosphere that encourages student achievement.

The goal of Magister University is to help every person, regardless of race, color, creed or ethnic origin, to have the opportunity to study the Word of God, even if they are financially unable to do so.

The Name Magister

The word “magister” is a Latin term. It is defined as master, canon, professor.

Historical Sketch

The Executive board of the North Tennessee Bible Institute and Seminary met on Aug 26th, 2006 for the purpose and consideration of starting a new educational outreach ministry to be named Magister University. The University would incorporate technical and vocational education with Bible education and training.

The Executive Committee approved the following: To seek a charter from the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, and to have Magister University recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Education of Antigua and Barbuda.

Position Statement

All teachers professors and staff of Magister University believe the entire Bible. The instructors members believe and humbly teach the historical and Biblical doctrines of Christianity as well as the distinctive beliefs of the people called Christians.

Lecturers and staff also emphasize the importance of the local church and the absolute necessity for each church, under the Kingship of Jesus Christ, to follow the New Testament in all matters of faith, policy, and practice. Consequently, a strong emphasis is placed upon missions and evangelism. In addition, Magister University fosters integrity and openness in the pursuit of truth and an appreciation of conflicting views.

Institutional Accreditation/Licenses

Magister University is chartered in Antigua and Barbuda, a Caribbean nation that has been a member of the British Commonwealth since gaining independence in 1981, and a member of UNESCO since 1982. It is also a member of CARICOM. For information, see the government web site

Magister University is registered as a private Educational Institution in Antigua and Barbuda is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Antigua and Barbuda that it has met the requirements stipulated by the Ministry. Magister University is accredited by the Ministry of Education of Antigua and Barbuda. Accreditation from a sovereign country is the highest form of accreditation.

Magister University is an Institutional Member of the Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators and attended its 2007 annual conference in Barbados.

Organization

The government of Magister University is vested in the Board of Directors. The president is the chief executive officer and as such is ultimately responsible to the Board of Directors for all matters pertaining to the intuition. The President reports directly to the Board of Directors. Following the organizational structure established by the Board of Directors, responsibility of most operational units of Magister is divided between the executive officers that report to the President. These officers include the following: the Provost, the Academic Vice President, the Executive Vice President ,Vice President at Large,. These Vice Presidents serve as the president’s management team, advising the establishment of administrative policy, and executing responsibilities, both individually and collectively, within the governance system. The Provost serves as the Chief Executive Officer in the absence of the president. The deans report directly to the President.

Academic Units

Magister University is comprised of two academic colleges. The colleges are the College of Vocational Education and the College of Bible. Each faculty offers a unique program. Programs housed in each faculty are described in Section five and six of this prospectus.
